RE: The archives of PKT

In response to Paul Davidson's question of who would do the work on
the archives, I would if people are willing to contribute, be supportive
and would use the archives. It would be very easy for me, with the help
of Don Roper, to set up a series of directories in the archives. For example,
we could have a directory for class syllabi, another one on graduate
programs, working papers, bibliographies, etc. Whatever we wanted.
How you would have access to the directories is through gopher or ftp
via our host csf.colorado.edu. I know for some of you, like myself,
you are still getting use to the technology but I can give you instructions
on how to use gopher and ftp to get into csf.colorado.edu for the files.
Ideally what you would do would be to put your file to the incoming directory
in pkt and then I would move it to the appropriate directory, but you
could also send me by email, for example, of your course outline in ascii
and I could put it up. Or send me a copy on a computer disk by mail and
I would upload the paper, outline, etc. and return the disk. The idea
in the long run is that besides being a resource for ourselves you could
have your graduate or undergraduate students turn to the files for
information about post keynesian and other heterodox issues. And I would
want to be open, if someone wanted to do a bibliography on new Keynesian
economics that would be great, or even on monetarism and Marxian thought.
For example, I really would like to have a syllabus from Jim Devine that
he uses in his Marco class, though I'm not sure, probably has more of a
Marxian center than post keynesian.
Also down the road, we should be able to have the writings of
Keynes in our archives. Right now, through csf.colorado.edu you can
download the writings of Marx/Engels and we should be able to do the
same thing with Keynes. I think the person has to be dead for 50 years
or something like that. And we might be able to get permission from
different journals to have important articles from Joan Robinson, Sraffa,
etc. in our archives. I guess Paul would know more about that than I do.
In response to Dick Stratton suggestion about getting involved
with the project that's going on at Sam Houston State Univ. I can see
becoming part of that, but maybe for right now we should keep it simply
and see what happens. So, if people are willing to contribute and think
this is something that will be helpful and pkt can offer I'll try to
coordinate the effort.
