Re: Ricardo's Corn Model

To my mind, one of the problems is that only <Ricardian-type> theory is
recognized as theory. In fact, I believe there to be many different
<types> of theory. Which is why, of course, that Wesley Clair Mitchell
called his famous course at Columbia University "Types of Economic
Theory." What other types? Try Institutionalism. In 1974 I gave a
papaer at URPE titled "Institutionalism and Marxism" in which I
argued that there were 3 different -- at least -- types of theory,
the Ricardian type being only one.

In my ho, grievious harm has been done by the identification of
all theory with the Ricardian type. Other approaches are then
rejected because they are not considered theory.
