_Of course_ Ahmadinejad isn't a good guy either. I understand his
economic policies are as bad as neoliberalism in many ways. But it's
important to notice that neoliberal policies have a direct negative
impact on a lot of people. Thus, machine-type politicians can gain
votes by protecting them from that impact, even if it's not so good
for the economy. That's what Ahmadinejad has done, as I understand it.

_Of course_, I'm ignorant; everyone is, since total knowledge is
important. I wish that you would show some "grace" by admitting your
own ignorance and then trying to _justify_ your attitude that lefties
in the US should ignore the Middle East. Justify it with facts, logic,
that kind of stuff. Don't just make blanket assertions. To do so is to
show inadequate respect for your audience.
