All of the above: state-owned, state-controlled, independent to a degree.
I have been a guest on Press TV many times. Nobody tried to tell me
what I could and couldn't say. Of course, they like Americans that are
critical of the U.S. government. But they interview Americans who
aren't leftists or so critical. If you disagree with the interviewer,
they don't get mad and they invite you back. At least, that's been my
experience. Of course, it's English-language, so as we all know,
that's a different audience than if it were in Farsi.
