No. I used to know Anatole Kaletsky a bit when he was the FT's bureau
chief in New York. He's of White Russian origin, and a bit of a social
democrat. He was part of an investment advisory boutique called
GaveKal that was big on the "dark matter" explanation of the U.S.
current account imbalance - there are so many wonders in the U.S.
economic model that conventional stats fail to measure, so there was
no reason to worry about the U.S. foreign accounts. Looks like he's
retreated from that.
