Doyle;
Aside from being a vague metaphysical concept, 'progress', there are
significant problems that need addressing globally. It makes no
difference what one thinks of if it is progress, something will be
done about climate and energy issues. I think Gar's concept of
technology neutral is more viable than too much new technology is a
problem. Maybe super conducting power lines won't fly. But the
arguments have not been substantial enough yet to sway me.
Secondly, the internet is a great social tool. And shifting our
options about how to make community. So I just find it a little
disingenuous to complain new technology is the problem. What is a
solution is socially responsible culture and production. Socialist
ideas instead of capitalist ideas. Where that takes us technically
seems like progress to me.
thanks,
Doyle Saylor
