A market society, to me, means a capitalist society in which market 
relations dominate other aspects of society outside of the formal market.  
It is a continuing process.  For example, the law and economics movement 
insists that market calculations should dominate legal decisions.

I understand what you are saying is that a market society can come before 
full-blown capitalism.  We seem to be using the same term differently.
