it wasn't the "ultimate arbiter" during the late Dubya regime.
Instead, the arbiter was "what will help my cronies and help create
permanent GOP rule?" Is that the kind of thing you prefer to science
being in charge? I doubt it.

Science shouldn't be the ultimate arbiter. It should be the democratic
organization of the population, hopefully informed by science.
