I think most people understand how sexism pervades a whole society, not just the males. We must use our imagination to extend this phenomenon to understand that blacks can be racists (against blacks) and that working class people can be prejudiced against 1) union members, 2) welfare mothers, 3) the homeless, and so on.
That's the whole trick of power isn't it? To get everyone to identify with the interests of power, and to feel only shame for not having power.
