This is a lame excuse. Obama is _not_ stupid. If in fact (and I believe
you are correct) those limits are not all thatr binding, then Obama
recognizes it as clearly as you do. That is, he must _know_ that he has
considerable latitude in bringing about so-called "progressive" change.
If he does not, it is because he _chooses_ not to.
His function (and it almost seems as thoughthis is conscious on the part
of the DP leadership now) is to absorb as much ptential radical
resistance into the warm and smothering embrace of DP "progressive" (but
so sadly "limited") politics.
