The SS benefits have _never_ been adequate for a substantial portion of
the population. They need to be increased and the only way to do that is
through paying pensions out of general funds and forgetting the nonsense
about it being "insurance."

One can hope, probably vainly, that the continuous attempts, thwarted so
far, to destroy it will trigger a new mass movement in favor of what
should have been instituted in the '30s, the original Townsend Plan.
