We've got a triple-layer cake here. 

From the bottom up, the layers are: 

1) Barack Obama and his feeble mendacious 
half-sketched gestures toward change, hope, 
helpin' ordinary jes' folks, etc. 

2) Actions that might actually improve ordinary 
jes-folks' lot in the here-and-now. 

3) The whole ball of wax! From each according to his 
abilities and so on! 

CB has got 3) attacking 2) in defense of 1). 

It's not an uncommon gambit. If we can't have 
real, 24-karat, blue-steel, first-water 
Socialism, we might as well have... Democrats.
