His speech was pretty good. The mention of Darwin birthdays and the positive role of science was also refreshing.

Obama did a speech on Lincoln last night in Springfield that was a
poem to the tradition of American collective action.  There was also a
throwaway line about how that tradition enabled the world to overcome
the threat of fascism -- without the usual bookend mention of
communism.

And by the way, the title of this thread is ridiculous.
