Just a footnote: "Within the DP" is incoherent. There is no such thing
as being "within" parties such as the RP & DP. "Within the DP"names a
nowhere.

Would you seriously describe the masses of young people, blacks, Latinos,
trade unionists, social activists, etc. who energetically and often
passionately raised funds, campaigned, staffed offices, organized meet-ups
and chat groups, and coordinated their efforts to elect Obama as being
OUTSIDE of the Democratic party? This is the constituency which would be in
the vanguard of any leftward movement in the US, and they would almost
certainly begin their political journey by pressuring their leaders to
respond to their needs, largely employing the same collective forms of
organization they so successfully used in the primaries and election.
