the SOFA only protects Iran against attacks based in Iraq, right?

An Iranian friend says that Ahmadinejad has survived in office mostly
because of the US and other pro-Likud criticisms of him made him more
popular in Iran, compensating for his failures. (He also says that
Ahmadinejad is profoundly ignorant -- sound like another President we
know?)
