[Pen-l] Tim Wise
What pisses us off about Obama's pseudo-movement is that it drains off
resources from that constant low-level activity which is so necessary as
the condition for any movement when it does start.

CB: No on this tired theory that the DP has a history of draining off movements in the last 70 years. Looking at the most recent mass movements in the fifties and sixties, the DP under LBJ fulfilled the main demands of the Civil Rights movement. In nominating McGovern, the anti-war movement won the DP in that year. This whole theory on the DP mainly espoused by Carrol and Lou, taken for granted by many others, is very inaccurate history. History shows that the DP can be pressured into leading important reforms in the US.
