In Chicago, where I'm from originally, people learned very quickly to
ignore what politicians _said_ and to pay attention to what they
_did_. It doesn't really matter what Obama is "fundamentally
sympathetic to" if he can't form coalitions to get behind them to
counteract the forces that are against them. Pres. Clinton I, for
example, wanted to have gays play an open role in the military, but
that was squashed when the military establishment squawked. The road
to hell is paved with good intentions...
It's hard to imagine Pres. Obama instituting: (clip)

CB: Yeah , but you are from Chicago, yet you aren't focusing on what Obama does, which will be in the future. You are focusing on what _you_ find difficulty_imagining_ him doing. That's you and your imagination. Other people imagine differently than you do, but imaginings are not a Chicago issue. We won't know what he does until he does it.
Oh, and O _said_ (not a Chicago issue) to Barbara Walters that his cabinet choices are for experience, the change from the campaign slogan will come from the Oval Office ( smile). I'd like to see that. I can just imagine it.
We'll see what happens.
I'm from Detroit. Our thing is what is to be done, by us , from the bottom up, 'cause as O _says_ change comes from the bottom up, and he's counting on us.
