Re: [Pen-l] John Judis in the New Republic on Obama's choice for the CEA

Yes, I noticed the same drift in his ITT columns. And then he was gone, to write a biography of William Buckley and then to his current perch at TNR.

Judis was a member of the New American Movement in the 1970s, where some
people were wary of his emphasis on electoral politics. (My memory is a
little foggy, but I think we were both on the national steering committee
together in 1974-75). Since the mid 1980s, though his politics have become
much more centrist, he often has useful things to say.

He used to have a regular column in the weekly newspaper IN THESE
TIMES (which went monthly awhile back). (He was a friend of James
Weinstein, I believe.) Back when I had a sub (which was a long time
ago), you could see him shift slightly to the right every few months.
