Judis was a member of the New American Movement in the 1970s, where some people were wary of his emphasis on electoral politics. (My memory is a little foggy, but I think we were both on the national steering committee together in 1974-75). Since the mid 1980s, though his politics have become much more centrist, he often has useful things to say.
