I hope its not the lack of a strong spine that stops me from calling myself a Marxist or Communist. ;-) As Jim mentioned in his response, the left viewpoint encompasses a wide range of issues that share a common basis. You may argue that Marxism or Communism is that base (or that they describe that base in clear terms), and I cannot respond on that since I lack the knowledge.
