This almost seems to be an intrinsic feature of capitalism as such,
_not_ merely or at all some sort of "human failing." It has been
happening over and over again for 300 years now, and each time, I
believe, there are those on the 'sidelines' as it were who observe it
and predict its end, while those who, one would think, _could_ "do
something" about it either ignore it or actively encourage it.
