[Pen-l] Religulous



I saw Bill Maher's anti-religion film last night.  It's
Harris/Hitchens/Dawkins on film, complete with a lot of snarky jokes.
Very funny at times, but I found the clips from his 1980s stand-up to
be the funniest part. Maher suggests that religion is the root of all
evil, ignoring the nugget of truth in the defense of religion (put
forth by some of the Moslems in the film) that the real problem was
"politics." (The problem, as I see it, is when religion takes power,
while some secular visions can become almost the same as religions in
their stupidity.) Also, Maher seems to hate Islam more than other
religions: while he dug up some nasty quotes from the Koran, he didn't
do so using either Testaments.

I did appreciate the many similarities between the life of Horus (an
Egyptian god) and that of Jesus. See also
