ignorance generally were quite real. He really seemed to believe that
he had this unique ability to into a person's eyes and understand
their character, and that was enough to be a great leader.

There's a certain kind of upper class yahoo, familiar to anyone who went to a place like Yale; the Bush family a few excellent examples. They're arrogant, anti-intellectual, and inclined to make fun of people through patronizing nicknames. But George W also affects the demeanor of a more downscale yahoo. The normal graduate of Andover, Yale, and Harvard Business School doesn't pronounce "insurance" with the accent on the first syllable, or "vehicle" with the accent on the second, the way W does.

god, can you imagine how GHW must cry to god at night, wondering what he did to deserve such a son?
