[Pen-l] McCain's veep candidate has Down Syndrome son

Greetings Economists,
90 % of Downs Syndrome babies are aborted now. This raises a peculiar dichotomy for progressive opinion. The Christian Right will support Palin because she is a right to lifer, but the left is unprepared to argue for Downs Syndrome babies as a matter of disabled rights.

There is such a commitment amongst progressives to abortion that the serious social problems supposedly solved by abortion are ignored. If this becomes a part of the campaign I would imagine this will push the issue from the right rather than the left as it should be. There is a vicious anti intellectually disabled mood in the country.

The Disability Rights movement has something to say about this in the long term. Hopefully it will move up in the consciousness of the left.
thanks,
Doyle Saylor

I'd prefer Michael Palin instead.
