[Pen-l] "swing voter"

Kevin Costner's B movie, "Swing Voter" is amusing. It's about a
bizarre situation where the presidential election comes down to being
decided by one guy, the Costner character (a total slacker). Not
surprisingly, it portrays the political system as venal. (Gee, how
could it be anything else?) The best parts are the political ads,
especially the "pro-life" one. (Stanley Tucci's role as the GOP
campaign manger is great: he combines Karl Rove with Dick Cheney.) The
big nightmare of the movie is that the choice for president is between
Kelsey Grammar and Dennis Hopper!

Spoiler alert: STOP READING NOW if you want to avoid having the end spoiled.

It's not a very political movie (as I define that term). The best
statement comes at the very end, where Costner reads a letter from a
poor person asking "if this is the richest country in the world, how
come some of us can't afford to live here?"
