Updated: 23 July 2008
Defense officials have dreamt up a range of uses for neuroscience research
aimed at monitoring brain function and affecting brain performance in humans
and animals alike. Yet, the impact of this research is just beginning to
become apparent. Georgia Tech researchers Jonathan Y. Huang and Margaret E.
Kosal investigated the many implications of this research in "The Security
Impact of the Neurosciences." Below, Kosal and three colleagues delve
further into the implications of these trends in neuroscience research and
discuss how to stem the technology's misuse.
