Yes it does. As long as neoliberals are in charge it has to be done in a
neoliberal way or not at all.
Our problems are political not ecological or economic, since any useful
approach to ecology or the economy depends on far-reaching shifts in
political power. And those shifts are simply not going to be achieved
within the "immediate present" (the next four years or so). Policy
proposals from leftists are, therefore, to be judged from a future
perspective: Supposing a rise of leftist power possible sometime after
(say) 2012, what can be done or thought now to contribute to that rise.
Fiddle-faddle about what the next Administration/Congress should do is
just that, fiddle-faddle.
