Actually, I would dispute that to a degree on the basis that it's more a liberal-conservative dispute rather than a left-right dispute. many liberals support some form of gun control along with other liberal/left issues. on the other side, many gun advocates affiliate with the republican party on that sole issue and become polarized - part of the problem of only having two parties. my guess is a number of marxists would say it's better that gun ownership not be monopolized by the state and therefore would not have the same stance as many liberals.
