CABINET HUMS AAM ADAMI`S TUNE
BS Reporter / New Delhi September 14, 2007
The government today decided to extend the mid-day meal scheme to children
in the upper primary stage - from Class VI to VIII - in the government and
government-aided schools in 3,479 educationally backward blocks.
The ambitious scheme, which so far covered students till Class V, would be
extended to all areas across the country in the next fiscal, as promised in
the Budget. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on
Economic Affairs (CCEA).
