I doubt it! The Ottoman Empire was not significantly different than the US and
it was more advanced in many ways: for example, not only it was multi-ethnic
and multi-religous, but also it was multi-lingual. Many of the Ottoman subjects
spoke two or three languages even at home, among the family.
A few years ago I asked Micheal P: What is the American cuisine? For example is
sushi American, that is, USian, or not, or szechuan beef, or calamari, or veal
parmigiana?
They are as American as they are Japanese, Chinese, Greek or Italian, in my
view.
The same goes for the Turkish cuisine, that is, the Ottoman cousine.
