Complaints to The Nation about Villalobos

Villalobos is an odd figure to be giving advice. During the civil war, he was reputed to fetishize violence. After the peace accords in El Salvador, he split with the FMLN, and found that about 3 or 4 percent of the Salvadoran population (less?) was enthusiastic for the former-FMLN version of neoliberalism. The party he created quickly disappeared. Perhaps this is why he believes Chávez's electoral record is so uninteresting.

This article makes no effort at historical or political context, just a rambling declaration from a minor has-been about what Chavez ostensibly can or cannot do. Perfectly appropriate for the Wall Street Journal opinion page, but why exactly is The Nation running it?

Anyone who reads this article and has doubts about the radical changes that are happening in Venezuela should check out venezuelanalysis.com. The right-wing traitor who wrote this article doesn't have anything to do trying to define what a revolution is. But he is doing it because his job is to prevent revolutions from happening, and the Bolivarian revolution taking place in Venezuela threatens his and his employers' interests.

The Nation here makes evident that it has become a great tool for capitalists working hard to protect their selfish, oppressive and irrational way of life.

Aren't you people aware that Villalobos is a neoconservative? He supported the war in Iraq in 2003 and only opposes it now--tepidly--for the same reasons that George Packer does. In addition, he is a counterinsurgency adviser to the bloodstained government of Colombia. Did Marc Cooper urge you to publish this sordid item? I guess if you are going to publish Cockburn on global warming, you might as well publish this kind of nonsense.
