Re: Back to the Future

Travus is a country boy now. He's lived in Silver City Nevada for the
last 30-some years, was coming down to Santa Cruz weekly to do the
most incredible call-in show on KPIG, the swinish offspring of KFAT,
until the station was sold about 6/7 years ago.

Now he does a syndicated new & commentary, and last year received an
award from the Nevada Broadcasters Association for 30 years of
broadcasting (along with Art Bell [snicker]. When I sent a
congratulatory email, he noted that the little obelisk they gave him
caused a certain amount of concern & delay at the local regional
airport whilst they investigated...

500+ episodes on achive.org, <http://www.archive.org/details/CabaleNewsServices>

Links to a live KPIG mp3 stream & a stream of recorded KFAT shows sent
by listeners on my site http://www.leighm.net. I heard a Travus T.
Hipp morning news from the early 80s on the KFAT stream while back.
His voice has become deeper, but the (bad) attitude is the same.

Today's installment:
[June 07 2007] Travus T. Hipp Morning News & Commentary: The More
Migration Changes, The More It Remains The Same - The Issue Underlying
Immigration Reform (Wages, Special Interests, Guestworkers, Pork,
Borders, And Territorial Imperative)
<http://leighm.net/wp/2007/06/07/tth_070607/>

The obligatory synopsis:
In The News: The Presidents of Russia & The US are sitting down, as a
sidebar to the G-8, to discuss the (re)armament of Eastern Europe's
effect on our relations. Details.

The Senate is STILL debating immigration reform, the elimination of
guest worker programs, and other related issues. There may be a vote
to limit the debate today. More.

Pakistan - The Musharraf government cracks downâ arrests 700
intellectuals, students, civil rights organizers, moreâ over the
dismissal of a Supreme Court judge who ruled that the Pakistani army
has no right to be in Waziristan, Autonomous Tribal Zone, and other
areas on the borders.

Hundreds of Turkish soldiers (âand don't forget the thousads of
support troops needed for them to operate) invade Kurdistan in
not-so-hot pursuit of the PKK.

In other words, the Iraq war just got larger, and more âJuan Cole uses
the termâ. Kaleidoscopic:

A hot eighth front may have just opened up in the kaleidoscopic
Iraq War, which appears to be gradually fulfilling its potential for
unravelling the entire Middle East as it was constituted by the Treaty
of Lausanne in 1923 in the aftermath of WW I.

How many fronts are there in the Iraq War? The Sunni Arab
guerrillas of the center, west and north are themselves fighting a
four-front war. They are fighting US troops. They are fighting
Shiites. They are fighting Kurds in the Kirkuk region and Ninevah and
Diyala provinces. And they are fighting other Sunni Arab forces
(Baathists fight Salafi fundamentalists, and both fight tribal levies
gravitating to the Americans).

Then there is a muted Shiite front with two dimensions. Radical
Shiites attack US forces. And, in Basra, Diwaniya and elsewhere, there

The commentator I act as internet news director for, Travus T. Hipp, once said that Samuel Colt made everyone in the 'Wild West' equal... Kalashnikov did that for the Third World (The older models could almost be completely manufactured with an open fire pit furnace and primitive machine tools), and nuclear weapons proliferation will do the same for the nations of the world after a while.

Has anyone done an econometric study or cost/benefit analysis of a
global nuclear war yet? It seems germane.

The arms racing literature of MAD in the poli-sci approach to GT is only
the tip of the iceberg on this research; my favorite is Dr. Strangelove
(an amalgam of John von Neumann, Edward Teller, and Henry
Kissinger(sic)) modeled in GT:

I remember Hipp from alternative format radio (KSAN-FM), which makes me
much older than (radioactive) dirt.
