An anecdote from 70 years ago. My first wife was the daughter of the
Duluth Community Chest Executive Secretary, and in 1936 the only person
she knew who was for Roosevelt was the school bus driver. Not knowing at
the age of 7 that there were more bus drivers than Community-Chest
directors she felt sorry for the underdog Roosevelt, which led her to
become a Democrat!
