pocket reviews

"The Lookout" is a good film about a disabled man (suffering from
brain damage) dealing with bank robbers. It treats him with a lot of
respect. The movie's slogan "whoever has the money has the power"
would be a good slogan for the U.S., to replace "e pluribus unum."

"Bush is Bad" is a fair and balanced musical revue playing in North
Hollywood (in the San Fernando Valley of L.A.) It's fun, but it's not
as good as the "Capitol Steps" (a Washington satire singing group) and
definitely not as fun as the "Daily Show." By the end, I was hoping
that they'd lampoon the Democrats. (In the program, one of the
actor/singers admitted -- horrors!! -- that she'd voted for Bush.)
But my (almost) 17-year-old son liked it.
