Edwards staff bloggers resigned after a right wing attack.  I presume
this is more or less a swift boat tactic sort of the in the same vein
as what worked to discredit Edwards bloggers.  Aside from the perennial
issue of name calling, this sort of attack to me offers a chance to
show a left self to the public.

Name calling in this case is meant to conjure up emotional disgust in
the public.  Homophobia doesn't really capture disgust as an emotion,
but the public understands the political perspective that has been
wrought in the public mind about prejudice against gays.  To me one
attacks the emotional foundation of the name calling to disrupt their
framework.  breaking their emotional structure allows a suitable
alternative framework to emerge.

Since disgust is rigid and unbending, then the conceptual process is to
identify the position in it's emotion structure.  And the left
alternative is democratic meaning the ability to put up different
points of view to synthesize a common flexible unity in the public
system.  So being flexible is the central left view.
