Spenglerianism from an unlikely quarter

The identification of Greece & Rome with "The West" is mostly a modern
invention. What validity it has comes from the split between the Greek
Orthodox & Roman Churches. "The West" (in myth and in reality) should
probably be regarded as a creation of capitalist imperialism, only 300=500
years old, if that. Also it is a bit odd to identify Greece & Rome as a
continuity.

CB: Seems logical. Isn't it entirely a modern invention ? It is hard to see
how the G's and R's could have included themselves in the bourgeois
conception ,the "West", of centuries later. The bourgeoisie used G and R
colonialism and slavery as a precedent for capitalist imperialism,
colonialism and slavery. Colonialism and slavery were not logical results
of wage-labor and capital as Ellen Meikens Wood and Brenner show.
Colonialism and slavery are "added" in to capitalism with the
rationalization that the great G's and R's civilizations had it.

There's no way the G's and R's could have looked into the future, and seen
that capitalism would arise. It was the bourgeoisie who looked back and
included the G's and R's in their ideal of Western Civ. Western Civilization
is Bourgeois Civilization. The G's and R's are capitalism's ancestors _ex
post facto_.

( Well , European languages do have a lot of Greek and Roman roots, which is
a residue of G and R culture in Europe.)

Aren't there a lot of correspondences between the G and R systems of Gods ?
