Excepting careerism, familyism, etc.
All the basic elements of good ol' American dipshittery are nothing but
unacknowledged "isms," including the knee-jerk reliance on politicians to
decide what changes society needs and how fast it is needed.
Environmentalists are treated as idealogues and "true believers" for citing
scientific evidence, but those who assume and believe that everything's just
dandy with the environment are the "normal" and "pragmatic" folks... It was
evident in the painfully long and utterly stupid non-discussion over global
warming that took place in this country. Some of these "normal" and
"pragmatic" idiots will still be denying that global warming and polar
melting is real even as they're taking submarines to their Wall Street
offices.

Lots of American women are like that.
Americans, male or female, just don't like the idea of subscribing to
any "ism" all that much, even when their ideas objectively conform to
this or that "ism." The idea of "ism," which suggests a system upheld
by a group of people, goes against the dominant American perception of
self.
