My old friend, now dead, Michael Calvin, used to tell panhandlers,
"Sorry, I'm looking for work, too." On the other hand, he had rounds
he made almost daily in which he gathered supermarket leftovers and
gave them to poor friends. In my own case, if I'm in the mood, I
give. Or not.
