Golf - something I do know about.  Justin Leonard made a miraculous putt on the 17th hole  and the US players ran onto the green and celebrated because they thought that the putt won the US the Ryder Cup.  But the European player had not yet putted (he had a very lengthy putt as well), and if he miraculously made his putt, the hole would have tied and the match would have gone on to the 18th hole.  After the US players cleared the green, the European putted and missed, thereby giving the US the Ryder Cup.  The US emotional reaction was understandable in context, but still very improper and rightly criticized.
