I guess I'm outting myself as a Nation reader, but I'm glad this was
brought up. In my lap sits the September 25th, 2006 issue of the
Nation, with the Planet of the Apes like Statue of Liberty sticking up
from the sand. The table of contents has in the "Books & The Arts"
section on page 40 "HUGHES: Things I Didn't Know" and then in italics
as author "Christopher Hitchens". On page 40 is his review of Robert
Hughes memoir, Hitchens byline says "Christopher Hitchens is a
columnist for Vanity Fair". This is on the web (
http://www.thenation.com/doc/20060925/hitchens ).
Hitchens said in his last Minority Report (September/October 2002),
that now being in the decent left, it would be his last Minority
Report. Then in November/December 2002, a letter from Snitch to Katha
Pollitt and her reply were printed. Then in October/November 2004,
the Nation printed a Hitchens article on why he supported Bush ("I am
in fact a member of a small international regime-change 'left' that
originates in solidarity with our embattled brothers and sisters in
Afghanistan and Iraq, brave people who have received zero support from
the American "antiwar" movement.") And now this recent article.
