Re: Last Lieberman Lament?

But more interesting (than your last sentence), if I am getting your
numbers right (and doing my math right), his "real" party line voting
reduces to 83% i.e., when there is a conflict, he sides with the
Republicans 17% of the time. Is this right? Do you plan to publish your
findings somewhere?

have looked at several more years of senate votes since i posted the
other day, at this point lieberman is voting with republicans about
20% of the time when dems and reps take opposing positions, he's been
hawkish on foreign/military/deficit votes (have always found it
interesting for someone to be for more military spending and deficit
reduction when former has always been principal reason for growing
deficits), he's also sided with reps a number of times on crime,
education, tax, budget issues, he seems to have voted against just
about everything wellstone's name was associated with...

there is matter of procedural vs substantive votes whereby a member
could perhaps vote with the opposition on former and with cast party
line on latter but i haven't seem much evidence of this in lieberman's
case (and i'm not sure one would find much of a pattern in this regard
for most members)...

had not thought about publication, i've got a number of other things
on my plate for the forseeable future, just found myself a bit
interested here and guess i'll continue for awhile... mh
