This is an *important* point. Having a left-of-center government abutting the USA, even if it is on the tepid side, would have much more impact on our politics than a firebrand being elected in Paraguay.
Yes, and a left-of-center victory there will energize a large segment of Mexican immigrant workers here. After all, the May Day boycott was organized across the border!
I have a feeling, however, that his very tepidness insures that Calderon will be president just as Bush was in 2000 and 2004.
Possible. I wish he were a wee bit more messianic in the sense of believing in his historic mission, if not as messianic as the ruling class press mistakenly claim he is. But leaders are merely composite figures, as good or bad as their supporters make them.
