Question about measuring labor income

John Snow, Ph.D. economist (by the way, what kind of graduate work did he do?) says that
inequality has diminished under the Bush administration. He performs this magnificent
legerdemain by counting workers' benefits as part of their income. Presumably, access to
corporate jets does not count as a benefit.

Of course, the increase in medical benefits is accompanied by rapidly increasing costs.
Are these costs deflated?

Pension costs can reasonably be counted in real dollars, but is there any correction if
such a pension (partially) evaporates?
