Re: Iranian Jews speak out

Greetings Economists,
LP writes,
Just as Venezuelan Jews have dissociated themselves from attacks on Hugo
Chavez for alleged anti-Semitism, this article points to a reality
different than the one that expected from the mounting media assault on
the
president of Iran--even though it is from 8 years ago.

Doyle,
Be that as it may, the Iranian justice for Gay men is hanging, and for
Ba'Hai's is hanging for proselytizing. If you note in the article
about the Jewish community in Iran the government prohibits converting
(proselytizing) anyone to Judaism. While it may be quite true Hugo
Chavez had no anti Jewish thoughts in his mind about Christ killers,
Iran cannot so easily be passed off for tolerance, or benign intent
about the rights of the masses.

The problem with the U.S. eyes on Iran is Geopolitics (the Monthly
Review article on that is worth a read seen here:
http://monthlyreview.org/0106jbf.htm) in which national sovereignty is
no longer allowed. The U.S. version of geopolitics is an abomination.

I also think Iran ought not in the interest of the global community
hang gay men, or persecute any religion. And we can't overlook such
stuff. But this sort of rights abuses used as a pretext for aggression
by the U.S. is also intolerable for the good reason of their near nazi
ambition for global rule.

My position would reflect a similar attitude to the concept of the
European community, if a nation belongs it must guarantee certain
rights.

We are likely though to see from the Europeans a cats paw about Iran.
thanks,
Doyle
