TCL to Offer a TV-Like Computer


It is an interesting offering especially following so closely on several
Internet based video on demand initiatives. e.g. The Google video project:

It is hard to tell how high tech TCL's role in this is. It could be
anywhere between merely being an assembler of PCs (those are a
dime-a-dozen and decidedly low-tech) and a appliance designer (like Apple
with the iPOD). For the moment they appear to be completely dependent on
Intel for the really high-tech stuff.

e.g. the article says:

TCL engineers handled problems related to connecting the device with
other audio and video products, such as DVD players and cable set-top
boxes, while Intel, of Santa Clara, Calif., handled computer-related
technical issues. <<
