economist under death penalty
Jerry Levy posted this to OPE-L
More information about the arrest of, and campaign to free,
Berhanu Nega, who received his PhD in Economics from
the New School:
The current situation is described at:
The main page <http://www.savenega.org> currently
says that he has been on hunger strike for 10 days
and is to be charged with TREASON. (I'm not clear,
though, whether the 10 days was as of 12/5 or more
recently). There are pictures here of international
protests in Addis Ababa, South Africa, Helsinki,
St Louis, Perth, Vancouver, Ottawa, and many
other locations.
