I have some sympathy with David's point of view here; there is nothing in particular wrong with bankruptcy.
You have been breathing the hallucinatory air of the City of London too long, IMO. I had the honor of playing a minor communications role in one airline bankruptcy, and I would say that from the workers' POV, there is nothing in particular right with bankruptcy.
