Re: [OT] free Cindy Sheehan!
I think that communications professionals -- like speech writers,
graphic designers, wardrobe consultants, PR agents, etc. -- can do a
lot of good, if they are only helping clients get out their messages,
making them spiffier than amateurs can.
In this case, though, Fenton Communications' client is Ben Cohen of
the Ben & Jerry fame (cf. <http://www.brandrepublic.com/bulletins/br/
article/491781/ben-jerrys-founder-pays-pr-firm-mother-fallen-son/>).
He's the one who has paid for Fenton's work for Cindy Sheehan.
That's where ambiguity begins. If it's Sheehan who is paying for
Fenton's service, I'm sure Fenton would have to listen to her first
and foremost. But Fenton cannot but be answerable to the man who pays.
BTW, Doug's remarks are now posted at MRZine.org: <http://
mrzine.monthlyreview.org/henwood260805.html>. Agreement?
Disagreement? Qualification? More info? Fire away.

Although there may be Svengalis who are communications

represent the client's interests, even where they
don't agree 100% with the consultants own views. Let's
face it, Kerry was and is a opportunistic jelly fish
