In fact, Canadian taxes are not materially higher than US taxes and we pay a lot less (as a per cent of GDP and in real dollars) than do Americans for health care despite the fact that coverage is universal, if somewhat slow for certain procedures in certain provinces, joint replacement being the biggest problem.
