I was kidding, too. But it's amazing how impoverished the orthodox
economists' vision of humanity is. After Pope Gregory ("the Great"),
the RCC listed seven deadly Sins: Pride, Envy, Anger, Avarice, Sloth,
Gluttony, and Lust. There were also seven Virtues: Faith, Hope,
Charity, Fortitude, Justice, Prudence, and Temperance. Orthodox
economists have combined all the Sins in one (utility maximization)
and decided that it's a Virtue that should be served by the Market.
The "consumer" seems nothing but a "One-Dimensional Man."
